Blood Supplies Running Low

Slovakia’s National Transfusion Service, or NTS, is warning that stocks of blood groups A, B, AB and O with a negative Rh factor are currently at critical levels. The service is urging people to donate blood over the next two weeks. Hospitals are still being supplied without restrictions, but the NTS says continued declines in stocks could put regular supplies at risk. Anyone aged 18 to 60, weighing at least 50 kilograms and meeting the basic health requirements can donate. Men can donate every three months, while women can donate every four months. More information is available from the National Transfusion Service website.
