10 more Slovaks are Righteous among the Nations

On Wednesday January 27th , 10 Slovaks received the Israeli award Righteous Among the Nations for saving or helping to save Jews during WWII. The ten names of the Slovak saviours will be engraved into the wallsof the Gardenof theRighteous in the Jerusalem museum Yad Vashem. Altogether there are more than 26,000 people from the whole world awarded Righteous Among the Nations, now 556 of them are Slovaks. Slovakia has the highest award recipients per capita than any other nation.

... says the Israeli Ambassador to Slovakia Zvi Aviner-Vapni. Righteous Among the Nations has been awarded since the year 1963 as a token of respect and gratitude to ordinary people who have risked their own lives to save the lives of persecuted Jews.
