World's tallest residential skyscraper designed by Slovak architect

Slovak national Dusan Pristic, who emigrated from Czechoslovakia in 1979, designed the tallest residential skyscraper in the world, 432 Park Avenue Tower in New York. "It [the tower] has a height of 426 metres. Whatever direction you approach Manhattan from, you can see it. Even from 100 kilometres away. On the top level is the most expensive condo in the world. It's worth 95 million dollars [approx. €86 million]," said Pristic in an interview for TASR, who has also worked on dozens of other skyscrapers. Pristic noted that since 9/11 the security and durability of high-rise buildings has increased significantly, including against possible air attacks. Although New York is famous for skyscrapers, it doesn't have the world's tallest building, which is currently the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, with a height of 828 metres. Pristic noted that a skyscraper in Saudi Arabia, which should be one kilometre tall, is currently being built. "The local sheikhs have billions, and they readily invest in this way. They only live from oil; they're not producing or developing anything. They can't compete apart from investments in high-rises, so they rush into that, to see which sheikh will build the tallest skyscraper," added Pristic.
