The average sum spent on the invoices of energy, TV, mobile and internet usage per household reaches €170 per month, according to a poll carried out by Sberbank Slovensko. The bank launched their so called Judgment day; an online poll designed for Slovak households so they can compare their costs with the rest of the country. The poll has revealed that inhabitants of Nitra and Trnava regions spent the most money on their households, while the lowest figures were recorded in the Bratislava region.
According to the results, the average monthly costs per household in the Nitra and Trnava regions equalled €201, while being only €142 in the Bratislava region. The factors influencing such a discrepancy are mostly energy costs and the average number of people sharing a single household. “In the Bratislava region, people tend to live more in flats, where energy costs are lower. On the other hand, the Nitra region has statistically the highest number of inhabitants living in smaller villages and, therefore, it also has the higher number of the so-called 'family houses' – or detached housing," said Filip Vitek of Sberbank Slovensko.
However, when it comes to expenditure per single household member, Bratislava matches the average of neighbouring regions. Overall, western Slovak regions spend more on mobile phone services, which is a reflection of the regional disparities in salaries and living standards that Slovakia is noted for.
