The state will provide financial incentives to tourist facilities which manage to attract foreign vacationers for five-night and longer stays, reads the Strategy for the Development of Tourism 2014-2020 that was passed by the Government on Wednesday. Such vacations which feature visitors from visa-free countries will be rewarded by €30 on average and €60 for tourists from countries requiring visas.
The proposal is due to come into effect as of 2014. The estimated costs sit in the neighbourhood of €10.5 million on an annual basis. The Strategy also incorporates the introduction of the National Quality System, under which tourist facilities could be evaluated with gold, silver, and bronze certificates to rate the quality of their services.
