Electricity Prices for Business Customers Should Fall Significantly

Companies in Slovakia can look forward to cheaper electricity. According to the Chairman of the Regulatory Office for Network Industries Jozef Holjenčík, business customers can look forward to a double-digit reduction in electricity prices. “I would not want to make premature announcements, but I can specify two basic steps. We want to introduce a new charge for reserved capacity for electricity producers, who are connected to the grid and deliver electricity. The second factor that will certainly have an impact on the steep reduction of electricity prices is the cost optimization of regulated entities. All this will lead to a reduction in distribution fees,” said Holjenčík.

Households too can expect lower electricity prices. However, these will not be as significant as for the business sector. ”Since the distribution fees for industrial consumers count for a bigger share of the end price, their reduction will be more significantly projected in electricity prices,” explained Holjenčík. According to him, this year consumers do not need to be concerned about significant changes of natural gas prices either. ”Gas prices should be stable. With a probability close to certainty, natural gas prices will not increase,” he said.
