The European Parliament (EP) is the best-known, but also the least trusted EU institution for Slovak people, the results of a survey by the 'European Dialogue of Perspective Attitude' initiative published on Thursday revealed. The survey which explored the level of knowledge among Slovaks about EU institutions, but also measured their level of (dis)trust in them, showed that the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) is the most trusted EU institution.
“The data for the survey was collected back in October and November 2012, and currently certain topics are being evaluated,” said the initiative's head Miroslav Hajnos. A total of 1,985 respondents joined the internet poll. The 'trustworthiness part concerned five EU institutions - EP, CJEU, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission and the European Court of Auditors. “As far as all institutions are concerned, distrust was more frequent in people's replies than the attitude of trust,” said Hajnos. Meanwhile, only 4 percent of those asked said that they don't know the European Parliament at all.
