Slovak police officers are set to receive an average monthly pay increase of 350 euros in 2027, Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) announced on Thursday. Salaries will also rise for firefighters, mountain rescuers and other Interior Ministry employees.
The increase for police officers will consist of a 150-euro rise in risk allowances from January, followed by an 8,4-percent salary increase from July under a newly signed collective agreement. Firefighters and mountain rescuers are expected to receive an average increase of 170 euros from July.
According to the Interior Minister Šutaj Eštok, the pay rises depended on the approval of the state budget. He also highlighted efforts to stabilise police staffing, including housing and recruitment allowances.
During the first eight months of 2026, the police force recruited 761 new officers and received more than 4,600 applications. Slovakia currently has over 19,900 police officers.
