Environment Minister Tomáš Taraba (SNS nominee) has introduced two new funding programmes from the Modernisation Fund designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs for both businesses and households. A 150 million euro scheme will support companies investing in modern technologies, energy-efficient production facilities and renovated industrial buildings.
The Environment Minister says the programme aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Slovak industry while lowering energy consumption. Applications can be submitted until 16 October. Taraba also announced a new round of the Obnov Dom Mini+ programme for households at risk of energy poverty.
Taraba said the programme reflects the state's role in helping households reduce their energy consumption and lower electricity bills, adding that it is intended to provide practical support to those who need it most. With 186 million euros allocated over the next two years, the scheme increases the maximum grant to 11 000 euros, removes the requirement for an energy certificate and expands support for insulation, window replacement, and others. Applications open on 15 July, with the first round expected to benefit up to 5000 households.
