The government ultimately did not address the National Security Authority’s assessment of the functionality of the central public administration portal, Slovensko.sk, during today’s meeting. Although the item was originally listed as the first item on the cabinet’s agenda, it was ultimately removed from the agenda.
Roman Konečný, Director of the National Security Authority, confirmed that the agency was prepared to present the report at the meeting, but since it was removed from the agenda, the discussion did not take place.
Investment Minister Samuel Migaľ stated that the confidential report contains several factual errors. According to him, the document focuses primarily on the hardware aspects of the system’s operation, while neglecting software solutions and licensing issues. The minister also indicated that he would welcome the publication of the report.
The opposition is criticizing the ministry’s approach. Ján Hargaš, a member of parliament from PS party, noted that the ministry has long been warning of a possible collapse of the portal, yet, according to him, even after nearly a year, it has not presented clear conclusions regarding its actual condition.
Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) stated that the Slovensko.sk portal requires urgent action. The next steps will be determined through technical consultations between experts from the National Security Authority, the Slovak Information Service, Military Intelligence, and the Ministry of Investment. Discussions on the financing of the necessary measures will take place in parallel.
According to the prime minister, the modernization of the portal should be financed through a combination of funds from the Recovery Plan, the Ministry of Investment’s budget, and potentially other sources as well. The Ministry of Investment estimates the costs at approximately 100 million euros. Controversial contracts related to the Slovensko.sk project have been suspended for the time being.
