Slovakia’s public broadcaster STVR is moving toward finalising its visual identity, more than a year after its creation. On January 21, the broadcaster applied to the Slovak Industrial Property Office to register a new trademark, indicating that the long-running provisional phase may soon end. According to publicly available information, the new STVR logo will be designed in a burgundy colour.
STVR has been operating without a permanent visual identity since the summer of 2024, when lawmakers approved the dissolution of RTVS and President Peter Pellegrini signed the legislation establishing the new institution. An earlier attempt to introduce a new logo was made by the Ministry of Culture, which commissioned external designs in 2024, but these were ultimately not adopted by the current STVR leadership.
The registration filings suggest that separate logos are also being prepared for Slovak Television and its individual programme channels, as well as for Slovak Radio and its stations. This points to a clearer structural and branding distinction within the institution. While STVR has so far not commented publicly on the timeline for introducing the new visual identity, the trademark application marks the most concrete step yet toward establishing a unified and permanent brand for the public broadcaster.
