President Peter Pellegrini received Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava during his official visit to Slovakia. According to the President’s office, the meeting confirmed the shared commitment of both countries to preserve and further strengthen their exceptionally close bilateral relations.
The Slovak and Czech leaders discussed cooperation within the Visegrad Group and the Slavkov format, as well as bilateral issues such as cross-border cooperation and infrastructure development and Europe’s security situation among others.
Prime Minister Robert Fico later confirmed that Slovakia and the Czech Republic will return to the format of joint government meetings, with the next session scheduled to take place in the Czech Republic on 31 March. Fico also highlighted Slovakia’s upcoming presidency of the Visegrad Group from July, pledging to actively work toward revitalising the bloc.
