Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) has announced government aid for storm damage compensation in eastern Slovakia. He made the announcement in a video posted on social media.
He said that wherever possible, the government will lend a helping hand in compensating for the damage. He believes that the state humanitarian aid, which is managed by the Ministry of Labor, has been and continues to be effective.
The prime minister expressed his sadness over the damage caused by the weather. "As a little boy in the village, I always noticed the four seasons. Torrential rains, huge storms, and gales were exceptional, but today they are becoming a normal part of our lives," he added.
Eastern Slovakia was hit by strong winds and heavy rain this week, causing extensive material damage to residents' property, infrastructure, and transport networks. A state of emergency was declared in several locations due to the severe weather.
