Slovakia’s National Transfusion Service (NTS) is calling for blood donors as supplies of blood types 0, A, and AB with a negative Rh factor have reached critical levels. While hospitals are still being supplied without restrictions, a continued drop could threaten the smooth operation of blood deliveries in the coming weeks.
NTS urges eligible donors—aged 18 to 60, weighing at least 50 kilograms, and meeting basic health criteria—to make time to donate in the next two weeks.
In connection with World Blood Donor Day on June 14, the fifth annual 'Presidential Drop of Blood' took place at the Presidential Palace on Monday. Over 40 participants, including staff and members of the public, donated more than 20 liters of blood—enough to help save an estimated 120 lives.
