On March 25, 1988 thousands of brave Slovaks came to Hviezdoslav Square and the surrounding streets to protest the lack of religious and other freedoms in then-communist Czechoslovakia. The demonstration was brutally repressed by the authorities. It is this demonstration that is credited as being one of the first steps that would eventually lead to November 1989 and the Velvet revolution. Ben Pascoe talks to organizer František Mikloško and historian and demonstration attendee Patrik Dubovský about this important moment in history.
