On Monday, the Support Ukraine summit took place in Kyiv, where Slovakia was represented by Deputy Prime Minister for the Recovery Plan, Peter Kmec, via online teleconference.
Speaking on behalf of Slovakia, he emphasized three key points:
1. Slovakia believes that Ukraine and the European Union must actively participate in peace negotiations to achieve lasting peace.
2. Slovakia fully supports Ukraine’s EU membership, contingent on meeting the necessary conditions, and stands by Ukraine throughout the integration process.
3. Over the past three years, Slovakia has provided continuous support to Ukraine, with a particular focus on fostering economic development in border regions. Special attention has been given to the Transcarpathian region, as well as Slovakia’s Prešov and Košice self-governing regions, to enhance stability and prosperity in Central Europe.
Deputy Prime Minister Kmec reaffirmed Slovakia’s unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty and long-term peace.
