The government, with a comment, approved the draft security measures, the so-called lex assassination. The protection of politicians, including opposition leaders, is to be changed. Long-term prime ministers or chairpersons of the Slovak Parliament (NR SR) should receive a lifetime annuity. These are changes in six laws that respond to the attempted assassination of Roberto Fico. The three highest constitutional officials should have similar benefits as the president has today. Based on the life annuity, the Speaker of the Parliament and the Prime Minister will receive the average salary of a member of the parliament for the rest of their lives. Constitutional officials will now be entitled to real estate, and not just an apartment. Security will also be provided for them.
In the case of misdemeanors, for example if a citizen commits hate speech, they can be fined up to one thousand euros instead of 99 euros, as it was before. The law on public gatherings will also be amended, introducing new reasons why they can be disallowed, prohibited or cancelled.
Protests near state institutions or the residences of public officials could also be prohibited. The set of ‘lex atentat’ laws will go to parliament in abbreviated proceedings.
