In a short time, a proposal for measures to increase the protection of constitutional officials, but also of the state as such, should be submitted. This was announced by Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) after Wednesday's meeting of the Security Council. Parliament could approve them at an extraordinary session. Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD) added that the first proposals will be assessed at next week's Security Council.
"It will be a set of legislative and technical measures," outlined Šutaj Eštok. He added that in first place is the need to guarantee the safety of the citizens of Slovakia.
According to Kaliňák, hate speech, as long as it does not exceed the level of a call for physical violence, could be dealt with by increased fines and accelerated proceedings. He noted that legislative proposals will be adopted after a society-wide discussion.
A working group led by the Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic will collect all proposals from individual departments. As he outlined, it should be about measures in the technical sphere. He also informed about the effort to reconnect the databases of all security forces. "Which was canceled for incomprehensible reasons in the past period," he pointed out.
The National Security Analytical Center (NBAC) also held a meeting on the current security situation on Tuesday (May 21). As Šutaj Eštok reported, the degree of terrorist threat remains the same.
