As a part of his tour of the USA, the Slovak president Andrej Kiska has visited the San Diego region, to learn about the local high-tech economy, as well as to open a new business incubator for start-ups in the USA. However, his visit to the San Diego region was marred by two incidents.
Despite Andrej Kiska’s efforts in promoting cutting edge technology, he encountered a very low tech problem – becoming trapped in a hotel elevator together with the Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák for more than an hour on Sunday evening. Moreover, on Tuesday morning two San Diego police motorcycle officers escorting Kiska's motorcade collided during the transport. Both officers were taken to hospital, one of them was said to have suffered severe injuries. According to Roman Krpelan the head of president’s press department, Kiska immediately asked for information about their health condition. The president is expected to return to Slovakia on Thursday.
