Meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal, Fico said he supported President Volodymyr Zelensky's peace plan, although he believes it is not realistic. However, he said the feasibility of individual peace plans will be assessed by leaders of major states, at a world summit in Switzerland in the near future. Plans for such a summit have not been revealed before.

Fico and Shmyhal discussed economic priorities. They agreed to main priority was a railway between Ukraine and Kosice, making the airport more accessible to Ukrainian travelers. They also agreed the various border crossings needed upgrading.
Cooperation on gas transports will continue, both prime ministers said. The transit of Russian gas through Ukraine is likely to continue, which Fico described as "excellent news" because it will benefit Slovak businesses and countries further west. Ukraine will also continue to store gas underground, for Slovakia.
