A new remuneration system for Slovak football representatives is to be set in place for the qualifying matches to the 2016 European Championships in France. In the new system football players will receive their bonuses only if they win or draw a match.
As the Sme daily writes, the players will receive 50 percent of the agreed upon sum on their bank accounts right away and they’ll receive the other half only if they qualify to the final tournament of the European Championships. Moreover, the bonuses players will get will be drawn from the quality of their opponent. In the qualifying rounds, the most financially valued will be victory over Spain, for which the players would be splitting some €150,000, while the least valued competitor is Luxembourg, winning over them would bring the Slovak football players €30,000. If the result is a draw, player bonuses are half the sums. “So if for instance Slovakia wins over Ukraine, the team will split half of the €100,000 bonus and will receive the half other half only if the team qualifies for the European Championship” stated director of the Slovak Football association Ján Kováčik for the daily SME. Slovakia is starting its journey to the qualification for the European Championship on Monday evening, playing against Ukraine in Kiev. “I am certain that we are well prepared for this match and that we will reach a good result in Kiev” stated Captain of the Slovak team Marek Hamšík.
