The government is missing out on a lot of revenue, and Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický gave a press conference Monday with the new president of the Tax Office, Jozef Kiss.
"The FS is the state's purse, and this is one of the crucial nominations." Kamenický said. Kiss said the state is missing out on 400 million euro in VAT collection. So he wants more effective law enforcement, for companies who systematically evade taxes.
Kamenicky said he wants to also strengthen customs at the eastern border with modern scanners and regular security checks of staff.
For businesses, the minister said e-cash has helped better collection. He announced the introduction of the so-called e-invoice, which he said would make it easier for businesses to pre-fill tax returns or have them pre-filled by the Tax Office.
Kamenický also wants to reorganize the Tax Office. "We don't need thousands of officials here who will get a salary, but the state doesn't get anything out of it," he said.
