Another way to look at it is to check vacancies, and see how many people apply for each type of job.
The website "Profesia” did just that. And found that the most popular jobs were regional manager, copywriter, visual artist, editor, tourism agent, nutrition assistant, work psychologist. These received the most applicants. But the most interest was for .... au-pair outside Slovakia, where on average 84 people responded to each ad.
Not so popular were openings for integrated circuits designers, sailors or headteachers. On average, only two people responded to each advert for these jobs as well.
The least attractive jobs in Slovakia are in the medical profession, if you go by the numbers from Profesia. Every ad for a doctor received only two replies. It was not for lack of opportunities: hospitals and other facilities published over 2,000 vacancies this year. Ads for dentists and pharmacists got about three applicants per vacancy.
Perhaps the pay isn’t attractive? Or perhaps these medical experts have other ways of applying for jobs.
