The new candidate to head the ministry for the Environment has already clearly expressed his views. In a TV interview recently, he said that he agrees with Rudolf Huliak on many things. For example, he called financing NGOs from the Ministry’s budget was helping ’nonsensical’ activities.
While in Parliament, he proposed a law that would make it easier to fell trees, build roads, conduct joint hunts, extract peat or filling in wetlands, even in strictly protected areas.
He built a loyal audience with his social media. He now is the third most followed politician on Facebook.
Taraba wants to exclude NGO’s from participating in simulated school elections. Holding parallel elections in the runup to parliamentary elections are common in Slovak schools since 2014. Taraba said outside groups are using them to ‚push politics‘ in schools.
A profile in the newspaper Dennik N. listed various controversial statements he made in the past.
Taraba has said that a vaccination against Covid might make you infertile.
When there was a demonstration to commemorate the two people who were murdered outside the Teplaren gay bar last year, he said there should be a counter-demonstration.
He called former Prime Minister Eduard Heger a "criminal" and "traitor" for donating the S-300 missiles system to Ukraine.
And when he published a photo of the president’s daughter on his Facebook page, he was asked to remove it. The police said it amounted to "an attack on a teenager that incites hatred and bullying."
