In Slovakia, there are several professions with insufficient demand from the domestic population, with more than 80,000 jobs being vacant, the Labour Ministry said on Thursday.
The ministry pointed out that it had adopted measures in the area of regulated labor mobility of foreigners to the Slovak labor market aiming to compensate for the lack of available labor.
The highest rate of vacancies is in mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, transport, health care and the IT sector. According to the ministry, the performance of the economy is helped by the controlled opening of the labor market for third-country nationals. As it further informed, several legislative measures were adopted with the aim of facilitating the employment of foreign workers. These measures include government regulations from the Labour Ministry, which allow nationals of selected third countries to be granted national visas for the purpose of employment. The visas accelerate the process of employing foreign workers in transport, highly qualified foreign workers in professions with added value for the Slovak economy, and also relocate employees.
