Moratorium begins today at midnight

Campaigning for the snap parliamentary elections closes 48 hours before the polling day, at midnight on Wednesday, the 27th of September and moratorium begins. It means that political parties, movements, coalitions and candidates cannot campaign any more. It is also forbidden to publish the results of opinion polls, information about the candidates or the political parties or coalitions in the media. Billboards and election posters that have been put up during the election campaign do not need to be taken down before the start of the election moratorium. Unpaid social network statuses of political parties or candidates are not considered election campaigning.

According to a survey, 88 percent of Slovaks do not consider the issues that political parties have addressed in their election campaigns to be important for their quality of life. At the same time, they expect the new government to be able to solve real problems of the people and to set an example for the people in the field of education and decency. The survey also shows that health care, the independence and impartiality of the judiciary, the fight against corruption and dealing with the consequences of inflation are the priorities that people think the new government should address.

The 9th parliamentary elections in Slovak history will take place on Saturday, the 30th of September. More than 6,500 police officers will be deployed on Saturday to ensure public order and a peaceful course of the parliamentary elections. Follow our news, web and social media for updates. Next week, we will bring you a detailed analysis of the results.
