The police on Friday received the first 24 of 83 e-cars procured under the national recovery plan. Vice-premier Livia Vasakova and Deputy Interior Ministry Tomas Oparty informed at a press conference on the same day.
Each regional police force in the country will obtain three of these vehicles, the Deputy Minister claimed. According to Oparty, this is a significant modernisation of the police's and Interior Ministry's vehicle fleets, as it will help to reduce both maintenance costs and emissions.
The procurement of the 83 vehicles was completed in November of last year, with the resulting cost exceeding €3 million. The price per vehicle, including a five-year warranty, five years of free servicing and winter equipment, was just over €40,000. The vehicles have an engine output of 132 kilowatts and a range of almost 400 kilometres.
Oparty stressed that building up a network of charging stations is part of the modernisation. Currently, there are more than 180 public charging stations in 49 locations across Slovakia, but a total of 430 charging stations should be built in the country by the end of November. An investment of €50 million has been allocated for this purpose.
