Čižnár: nobody will dictate ruling on Matovič - Procházka tape

Nobody will dictate to me what we should do, Prosecutor-General Jaromír Čižnár said at a press conference on Thursday when asked when his office will examine the audio recording of a conversation between Igor Matovič (Ordinary People/OLaNO) and Radoslav Procházka (Siet) on the latter's moves in his presidential campaign funding.

Čižnár added that he hasn't seen the dossier on the issue, so he wouldn't provide any comments. “I'm not used to acting this way,” he said. Procházka has admitted that the recording, which was published on the internet earlier this week, contains parts of his conversation with Matovič, but said that it was ‘skilfully edited’ in order to denigrate him.  Matovič said that it wasn't him who put the recording out and added that he was unhappy that it was published in mid-summer, when the public is less attentive. The OLaNO leader added that although he did select four separate parts of the conversation, he didn't cut these further. Čižnár gave an order to his subordinates back in June, when Matovič opened the issue, to look into Procházka’s funding. “The Prosecutor-General's Office from tactical reasons won't provide any details on its specific moves,” said the Prosecutor-General's Office spokesperson Andrea Predajnova.
