The “Umiernení” Platform will not continue in cooperation with the extra-parliamentary Dobrá voľba party, and the extra-parliamentary Modrá koalícia party announced talks with various figures from the political spectrum including current interim PM Eduard Heger and the Hungarian Forum. None of these extra parliamentary parties recorded over 2.5% of votes in polls.
Negotiations are going on with all relevant parties and politicians from the centre-right political spectrum, said Modrá Koalícia head Miroslav Kollár mentioning PM Heger, coalition MP Juraj Šeliga and scientist and former presidential candidate Robert Mistrík. Furthermore, the non-parliamentary Hungarian Forum leader Zsolt Simon announced that he had also met Kollár to inform each other about the steps the parties are taking before the general election, as well as their potential cooperation.
"We concurred that the list of values of our parties is very similar. We have the same view of European orientation, Slovakia's membership of NATO, as well as the need for a democratic rule of law. Therefore, we agreed to intensify a dialogue between the Hungarian Forum and the Blue Coalition," added Simon.
Alojz Hlina, leader of the “Umiernení” Platform explained that the reason for the end of cooperation with Dobrá voľba is that they disagree with the presidium's decision to launch negotiations on pre-election cooperation with the Hlas-SD party.
"Our ideas of cooperation with other political parties are so fundamentally different that they do not allow us to continue working together as one political entity," Hlina posted on a social network, adding that the split will be fair in relation to both colleagues and the public. According to him, the Moderates platform will not transform into a political party before this year's general election. It will operate as a civic-opinion platform and develop activities to help center-right, non-populist political entities to succeed in the election.
Dobrá voľba vice-chair Radoslav Bato said he will not be on the Voice-SD's slate. However, he is not against holding talks on cooperation with party leader Peter Pellegrini. "The biggest misfortune in politics are people for whom the most important issue is themselves and their moral superiority," he said. He has not identified himself with the current development of the negotiations on uniting the right side of the political spectrum and questions the presentation of interim Premier Eduard Heger (OĽaNO) as the saviour of democratic forces.
