Had a general election taken place in early February, it would have been won by the extra-parliamentary Hlas-SD party with 20.8 percent of the votes, according to the results of a survey carried out by Focus agency. The opposition Smer-SD party would be second with 14.6 percent ahead of another non-parliamentary party Progressive Slovakia on 11 percent, the far-right Republika party on 8.5 percent, coalition 'Sme rodina' party (7.7 percent), the non-parliamentary Christian Democrats (KDH - 6.9 percent), the coalition OľaNO (6.4 percent) and the opposition Sloboda a Solidarita (SaS - 5.3 percent).
The remaining parties, with less than 5 percent, would be left out of the House. The ethnic-Hungarian Aliancia would have garnered only 4.5 percent ahead of Slovak National Party (SNS - 3.6 percent), far-right Ľudová Strana Naše Slovensko (LSNS - 2.9 percent), the emerging Modrá Koalícia party (2 percent), the Hungarian Forum (1.9 percent), Dobrá voľba a Umiernení (1.4 percent) and the smallest governing party Za ľudí (1 percent).
The results of this hypothetical general election would have translated into 38 seats in Parliament for Hlas-SD, 27 for Smer-SD, 20 for Progressive Slovakia, 16 for Republic, 14 for Sme rodina, 13 for KDH, 12 for OĽaNO 10 for SaS. The poll was carried out between February 1-8 on a sample of 1,017 respondents.
