The 2023 state budget might be passed on January 10, 2023, if it's revised, House Chair Boris Kollar declared on Monday. As for the talks on the reconstruction of the Government and the forming of a new majority, the former coalition is waiting for terms from the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party. If these are acceptable, Kollar conceded that a deal might be forged. Kollar pointed out that he had wanted to pass an amendment to the Constitution aimed at enabling an early election as early as this week, but every political party has a problem with some aspect of it. The House Chair warned that President Zuzana Caputova gave the ousted Government time until the end of January to pass the 2023 state budget, amend the Constitution and if the Government won't secure a new majority in Parliament by then, the head of state might appoint a caretaker cabinet. Negotiations on the formation of a new "76" and the reconstruction of the government, according to Kollár, are the initiative of Prime Minister Eduard Heger. "They are currently negotiating, we don't have the demands of, for example, SaS on paper yet. If I see them and we agree with them, then there will be an agreement," he said when asked how close the parties are to a solution. The head of parliament envisions the eventual agreement as a written memorandum so that everyone would clearly know how to proceed and what the agreement would sound like. He added that this must happen within these two or three days.
