Scouts will distribute Light of Bethlehem all over Slovakia this weekend

Slovak scouts will distribute the Light of Bethlehem across the country by trains this weekend (December 17 and 18). They will gradually deliver it to individual train stations where anyone interested can come to get it. The light will thus make it to more than 300 towns and villages in Slovakia, including places that do not have a direct train connection.

"Scouts will be waiting with lanterns at the train stations where the Light of Bethlehem will arrive on Saturday and distribute it in individual towns and villages to hospitals, care homes, asylums, to Holy Masses or deliver it directly to people's homes so that it can make the Christmas atmosphere," said coordinator Marian Suvak.

The train distribution will start at 7.55 a.m. in Bratislava with the Povazan express train on the Bratislava - Zilina route. The Light of Bethlehem will end its train journey this year at 7.29 p.m. at Bardejov (Presov region) station.

Slovak scouts will hand over the light to people during Holy Masses that will take place all over Slovakia on Sunday. The Light of Bethlehem will ascend to Lomnicky peak and Hrebienok in the High Tatras on that day as well.

Scouts brought the Light of Bethlehem to Slovakia for the 33rd time this year on December 10 to pass it to our neighbours in Poland and Ukraine one day later.
