The Bratislava I District Prosecutor’s Office chief has resigned due to incorrect procedure she took following the tragic accident on Zochova street in Bratislava, TV Joj reported on Monday. The district prosecutor violated an internal regulation when she failed to inform her superior immediately after finding out the extent of the tragic accident. Her superior is Bratislava Regional Prosecutor Rastislav Remeta. He confirmed the information for the TV on Monday, adding that the district prosecutor asked to be relieved from the post on her own. The tragic accident on Zochova Street in Bratislava, in which a drunk driver killed five young people and injured others, is an extraordinary event that prosecutors are obliged to immediately report to their superiors. This is an internal regulation issued by the prosecutor-general in 2021. According to the order issued by the prosecutor-general, prosecutors must report extraordinary events in traffic accidents to their superiors when more than three people are killed, at least seven people are seriously injured, or the damage exceeds the amount of €333,000. This also applies to a situation that can arouse public interest, such as the death of a well-known public figure, a politician, an artist, or a journalist.
