Premier Eduard Heger in the hall of Bratislava-based Comenius University on Monday honoured the memory of the victims of Sunday's (October 2) tragic traffic accident that has so far claimed five lives and left several young people injured. Heger expressed his sincere sympathies to the families of the victims, and in this context, he also asked the public to help them. "Let's help them as much as we can to get through this time," he added. President Zuzana Čaputová visited the scene of the accident. She honoured the victims of the accident by laying flowers and lighting a candle near the site of the tragedy. Prime Minister Eduard Heger and Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollár signed the three books of condolence on the grounds of Comenius University. A minute of silence was observed on Tuesday at 9.00 a.m. in the building of Comenius University (UK) and the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies of the Slovak University of Technology (FIIT STU) in Bratislava to honour the students who died in a tragic traffic accident in the capital Bratislava at the Zochova bus stop. Three of the accident victims were students of Comenius University. A first-year student of FIIT STU in Bratislava also lost his life. The fifth victim is also a first year student of FIIT STU. Black flags are flying at both universities. Books of condolences are available in the lobby of the Comenius University building on Šafárik Square. They can be signed until Thursday (6 October) at 12.00 p.m., after which they will be sent to the families of the deceased. University students will honour their late classmates at the Mlynská dolina campus in Bratislava. This is where most of the victims were headed at the time of the accident. They will be remembered with a minute of silence and lights out on the dormitories' campus on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. A car with a drunk driver crashed into a bus stop in the centre of Bratislava at 10.24 p.m. on Sunday (October 2). The tragic accident left five people dead and several more injured. The driver who caused the tragic accident was found to have approximately 1.6 parts per thousand of alcohol in his blood, and his passenger one per thousand, said Police Corps President Stefan Hamran at the scene of the accident on Monday morning.
