Brussels has removed Slovakia from a list of states with large state debt. After five years the nation has been removed from the group of the largest offenders of the European Union. On the list are member states that have too great a state debt, higher than 3% of GDP.
The government has maintained its deficit below three percent of economic output. “What is important is that we have improved the functioning of the state and public finances have stabilised for the near future and we move forward in a sustainable manner,” said Finance Minister Peter Kažimír with the fact that the European Commission predicts that Slovakia’s debt will be fewer than three percent compared to public finances this year and for the next.
