Public Health Authority: Delta variant already the most dominant in Slovakia

The Public Health Authority (UVZ) reported on Tuesday that the delta variant of novel coronavirus is already the most dominant variant in Slovakia, pointing to the results of sequenced coronavirus-positive samples in July. "While the alpha variant was still notably dominant in the first two weeks of July, the number of samples found to have the delta variant was gradually growing, and it eventually became the most frequent variant on July 22, when it was found in 112 of the 181 samples," UVZ representative Anna Kalinakova stated. The first delta variant case was recorded in Slovakia in June.
