President-elect Andrej Kiska met incumbent President Ivan Gašparovič in Tatranska Javorina (Prešov region) in the High Tatra Mountains on Thursday. According to Kiska's team, the meeting was initiated by Gašparovič and lasted approximately two hours. Gašparovič is currently on a working trip to eastern Slovakia.
The talks during the meeting focused on practical issues associated with the inauguration of the new president scheduled for 15 June. The two also discussed foreign policy issues, such as the summit of presidents of the V4 countries and the German president scheduled to take place in Budapest on 16 June. Kiska requested a meeting with Gašparovič in a letter that he sent on 7 April. Gašparovič said that didn't see any need to personally address the political issues about which Kiska has been speaking via the media. At the same time, Gašparovič didn't exclude the possibility of meeting Kiska informally at some time before his inauguration.
