New conditions apply for entering Slovakia

New rules for people arriving in Slovakia have been in force since Friday morning, and they now depend more than before on whether a person has been vaccinated or not. According to a decree issued by the Public Health Office, fully vaccinated people do not have to go into quarantine and only have to register in advance via the e-Hranica (e-Border) form. Unvaccinated people are required to undergo 14 days quarantine, which can be terminated by a negative RT-PCR test that can be taken no earlier than on the fifth day after arrival. Exemptions apply to cross-border commuters.

All former third-category border crossings were to be open as of Friday (July 9) morning. The police, together with the army, members of the Financial Administration and the Prison and Judicial Guard Corps (ZVJS) will continue to perform checks on whether the quarantine obligations of persons entering Slovakia are being fulfilled, TASR was told by spokesperson for the Police Corps Presidium Denisa Bardyova. "Based on Wednesday's (July 7) resolution by the Government and the decision of the Interior Minister [Roman Mikulec (OLaNO)], all former third-category border crossings will be open from Friday and all obstacles to crossing internal borders will be removed," said the police spokeswoman. As she added, there will be permanent checks at all major road crossings of the first and second categories. As Bardyova added, regular monitoring of compliance with the quarantine obligations of persons will be carried out at smaller third-category crossings.
