Easier entry to Slovakia for vaccinated travellers

The Government on Wednesday scrapped Slovakia's lists of foreign countries with respect to the risks associated with COVID-19. The rules on entering Slovakia will be replaced as of July 9 depending on whether travellers have or have not been vaccinated. The aim of the new rules is to minimise the import of the delta variant of novel coronavirus from abroad.

Individuals who have received both doses of either Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Moderna or Sputnik V vaccines at least 14 days prior to their arrival to Slovakia will be considered fully vaccinated. The same will apply for people who have received the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Vaccinated individuals will be required to present either their Digital Green Pass or a national vaccination certificate including a QR code.

As of July 1, the Digital Green Pass comes into effect in the whole European Union, including Slovakia. Individuals can request their pass on the website korona.gov.sk. The digital certificate serves as proof of either vaccination against Covid-19, a negative test result, or of overcoming the disease.

Unvaccinated travellers entering Slovakia will have to register online on the portal eHranica (https://korona.gov.sk/ehranica/) and isolate for 14 days after their arrival in Slovakia. They will have the option to take a PCR test, no sooner than their fifth day of quarantine, and provided the result is negative, those individuals will be able to leave quarantine. Rules for cross-border commuters will follow the new regulations as of August 9.
