From now until 2020 Slovakia is expected to obtain €2.2 billion from the Operational Programme (OP) of Research and Innovation. This follows on the design of this program which was approved at today’s government meeting.
“The financial support for OP Research and Innovation will be provided by the European Regional Development Fund; an amount totalling €2,226,776,537 euro”, reads the material. In the previous programming period from 2007 to 2013, Slovakia had more than 1.2 billion euro available for the OP of Research and Development.
Despite the governmental approval, the new draft OP must still be approved by the European Commission. Minister of Education, Science, Research, and Sport, Dušan Čaplovič has approved a resolution pursuant to the proposal submitted by Thursday for its formal approval. The government has thus mandated it to be discussed with the European Commission.
