On Friday, the Slovak Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Minister Veronika Remišová introduced the prototype of an app, which should ease travelling within the EU during the Pandemic. It is called GreenPass and it should enable citizens to scan their QR codes confirming their vaccination, test or the fact that they have recovered from the COVID-19 disease. It should be available for both Android and iOS operating systems.
The app is a joint project which requires cooperation of the Informatisation Ministry, the Health Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the National Center for Health Information (NCZI) and the state-owned Slovensko IT company. The app should undergo a security audit and should also work offline, without an internet connection. According to the General Director of Slovakia IT, Pavol Miroššay, citizens will have control over what they display - either all data or only the anonymized data.
The app is expected to be launched on June 26.
