As of next Monday (May 10), no Slovak district will be coloured black, which is the worst ranking colour in the COVID-automaton. According to a decision passed by the Cabinet on Wednesday, two districts are set to be dark red, 33 medium red and 44 light red. The dark red districts next week will be Myjava and Považská Bystrica.
Health Analysis Institute head Matej Mišík confirmed that the situation concerning the coronavirus pandemic in the country has improved compared to the previous week. The number of people in hospitals dropped to less than 1,200, compared to over 3,000 in the peak of the second wave. As of Wednesday over 21% of the Slovak population, which is 1.1 million people, have been vaccinated with the first dose and almost 550,000 with two doses of vaccine.
