Quarantine to concern even vaccinated returnees and travellers

As of Monday March 22, obligatory quarantine for returnees and travellers from abroad is set to concern even those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as well as those who have recovered from the infection. However, exceptions from the quarantine remain for medical staff entering Slovakia for the purpose of providing urgent health care. Nevertheless, even this exception is subject to the approval of the Ministry of Health. The reason behind this move is insufficient knowledge about new coronavirus mutations.

On Sunday, the Slovak Public Health Authority announced that the so called British mutation of COVID-19 disease had been confirmed in 97.3% of almost 1800 checked positive samples. The occurrence of the Czech mutation was in 0.9% and the South African in 0.5% of the samples. A total of 1.3% were without further determination, "said the Chief Hygienist of the Slovak Republic, Ján Mikas.
