The civic association called Slovensko.Digital perceives the state run registration system for vaccination via the current website korona.gov.sk as badly mishandled and has offered help to the Health Ministry and the National Centre for Health Information (NCZI) to fix the situation. "The process needs to be based on a one-time registration, where a person registers, ticks off preferred locations for the vaccination (or even a type of preferred vaccine, etc.) and subsequently receives a text message with a date of inoculation. If they don't confirm the message, they will be sent back onto the waiting list and receive a new date later," suggested Jan Suchal of Slovensko.Digital. The spots will not be assigned based on the speed of one's registration, but rather by date of birth. This should also do away with the discrimination on the basis of technical skills. "The authorities need to reach out proactively to the elderly also via other channels, such as by telephone," added Suchal.
The Health Ministry states that it is preparing a new application to serve as a "waiting room" for vaccination. It will be launched within a week and will allow people to register via their personal identification number but the Ministry still has to release more details on this app. Currently, registration should be open for people aged 60-70 who are to be inoculated with the vaccine from AstraZeneca, while people over 70 are to receive the jabs from Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna.
