The Interior Ministry's Crisis Management Section and the Slovak Funeral and Cremation Services Association will seek a solution to the extraordinary situation in the funeral service sector, said Interior Minister Roman Mikulec (OLaNO) following the Cabinet session on Thursday. As he added, the help should be either in the form of capacity increases or mobile cooling facilities. The assistance should be implemented via district offices. The association pointed to the fact that the situation at crematoria is beginning to become critical. For example, the crematorium in Nove Zamky, western Slovakia, has stopped accepting bodies for cremation due to a lack of capacity. The crematoria in nearby Nitra and Levice, south western Slovakia, have reported almost full capacities as well. Some other crematoria have announced that they need to take technical breaks in order to carry out maintenance. There is therefore a real threat that dead bodies will start to accumulate.
