Matovic: Slovakia could produce COVID-19 vaccine

Prime Minister Igor Matovic (OLaNO), speaking on RTVS's politics discussion programme Saturday Dialogues, admitted that the Russian COVID-19 Sputnik V vaccine could be produced in Slovakia. According to the premier, the Russian producer wants the countries to which the vaccine is distributed to produce it at the same time. Matovic noted in this regard that he does not want to put geopolitical interests above those of ordinary people. The prime minister also claimed that Slovakia is set to hold talks on manufacturing the vaccines produced by Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna, but remarked that it is too soon to say whether these talks will be successful. If Slovakia produces a COVID-19 vaccine, it will not keep the jab only for itself, but will distribute it evenly to other EU-member countries.
