Former Constitutional Court vice-chair Eduard Barany and constitutional lawyer Vincent Bujnak from the Department of Constitutional Law at Comenius University in Bratislava consider the Health Minister's proposal to obtain an exemption from the curfew via an SMS message to be a gross violation of the law, according to TASR press agency. At a press conference on Monday, and without having consulted with coalition partners, Health Minister Marek Krajčí said that he is considering the possibility that people could send SMSs requesting an exemption from the curfew, and the head office would send them back an SMS allowing them to break the curfew for the necessary period of time. He did not give any other details.
Constitutional lawyer Bujnak considers such a measure to be a very significant interference with fundamental rights and freedoms, which should be assessed by the Constitutional Court if adopted.
