Slovakia to receive 210,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in February

This month, Slovakia should receive 210,000 doses of the vaccine against coronavirus from AstraZeneca with the first shipment due to arrive on February 7, said Health Minister Marek Krajčí. In line with negotiations under the EU's remit Slovakia should have originally received a total of 360,000 doses in February. "The European Commission will push the company to meet its promises. We'll see," said Krajčí, adding that the elderly would not be given this vaccine, however. "The vaccine has been tested so far on people up to 55 years of age with good results, and some countries are considering not giving it to older people. I'm having similar considerations," said Krajci. The European Commission on Friday granted a conditional marketing authorisation for the AstraZeneca vaccine following an earlier recommendation by the European Medicines Agency.
