More vaccine to be delivered to Slovakia on Tuesday

As of January 4th a total of 7,201 people were vaccinated against the new coronavirus in Slovakia, according to the Health Ministry. Most of them are healthcare staff and employees in social care facilities, as the vaccination campaign which began on December 26th is not yet open to the wider public. Meanwhile the vaccine producer Pfizer has announced that they are delivering an additional 76,000 doses of the new coronavirus vaccine to Slovakia on Monday and Tuesday. The first delivery of 9,750 vaccine doses arrived in Slovakia on December 26th of last year.

In January, 208,000 doses of the vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech are to arrive in Slovakia gradually, and 12,000 pilot doses from Moderna are also expected to be imported, according to Slovak Health Minister Marek Krajčí who adds that he hopes that the vaccine from the Astra Zeneca and Oxford University consortium will soon get the greenlight of EU regulators and be available to use too.

The rest of the doses allocated to Slovakia under agreement with the European Commission will be imported in weekly deliveries during the following months.
