Slovakia has contracted 2.44 million doses of Pfizer vaccines against novel coronavirus, Health Minister Marek Krajči (OĽaNO) stated on Wednesday, stressing that the vaccines will be free for the public, without additional charges, and they will not be mandatory. The minister pointed out that the vaccine developed by Pfizer has undergone clinical testing with success and with 90-percent efficacy. Slovakia has negotiated vaccines against coronavirus via the European Union. "I want to reassure the public that Slovakia has more than 17 million vaccines contracted from six different manufacturers," Krajči emphasised, adding that every country has contracted more vaccines than it needs. The Health Minister went on to say that depending on how individual vaccines are available, Slovakia will be able to take as many doses as will be proportionally up for grabs via the EU mechanism. If Slovakia does not need some vaccines, it will be able to place them in a 'second-hand store', making it available to other countries.
Vaccines against coronavirus will be free and voluntary
